About Lauren

Lauren began playing guitar at age 15. Since graduating with a degree in music and education in 2005, she’s been making music with students and friends of all ages. Her greatest discovery: everyone is musical and everyone is different!

By designing thoughtful and individualized instruction for beginner and intermediate guitar students, Rock with Bock allows for fun and sustainable music-making without the pressures and frustrations of some traditional music lessons. Each student’s preferences and learning styles are carefully assessed to create the perfect lesson plan. We know you’ll love it, so sign up for a trial lesson today!

Weekly Lessons

Parents and kids alike enjoy the convenience and comfort of guitar and ukulele lessons at our local North Decatur home studio. At Rock with Bock we’ve found the consistency of lessons every week to be instrumental (pun intended) for students’ musical success. And 45 minutes (30 for our youngest rockers) is just the right amount of time to get a lot of learning in, but not feel overwhelmed.

Fun and Focused on YOU!

At Rock with Bock, all lessons are carefully planned with the student’s age, skill level, musical preferences, learning style, and even personality and temperament in mind. Young musicians are led through several tasks during each lesson to ensure an engaging and well-rounded learning experience. Activities include playing, singing, and writing songs in various genres; learning music theory through book exercises, games, and puzzles; and sight-reading notes, chords, and tablature (written guitar/ukulele music).

Life-long Learning

Our fun and personalized lessons help to build a foundation for sustainable music-making going forward. At Rock with Bock we believe that private lessons shouldn’t be scary, boring, or a chore. When students find their work compelling and rewarding, they’ll gain confidence, see their progress, and stick with it. See for yourself! Sign up for a trial lesson today!

Testimonials

Lauren has an infectious love for her craft. Her guitar lessons are filled with enthusiasm and energy that really engages my 11-year-old daughter. Lauren’s ability to relate to my daughter on her own level is a true asset that I believe will keep my daughter practicing. I enjoy listening to their sessions together – they both seem to be having so much fun!
